Dew Dog Challange 2014

Posted on Mar 17 2014 - 1:48pm

It’s time to start your preparations to participate in the biggest and best Scouting event in
Northwest Georgia. The Challenge is the one event to bring together the entire Scouting
family. That’s right; everyone, from Tiger Cubs to Venturers/Explorers, is invited. Our theme
for this year’s Challenge is “Are You Tougher Than A Dew Dog”. Similar to a large Camporee,
the Challenge consists of a series of “missions” to test the skills of Cub Scouts, Webelos, Boy
Scouts, and Venturers/Explorers alike. The Challenge is a fun way for our Scouts to show off
their Scouting skills and compete for the coveted “Top Dog Patrol” trophy. We have different
competitive events for Webelos, Boy Scouts, and Venturers/Explorers. The Cub Scout
Challenge introduces the younger Scouts to many fun and exciting events of their own. They
will get to see older Scouts compete and will aspire to be like them. When participating in
events, most Cub Scout Packs bring along siblings. For this reason, we have put together a
separate program for Cub Scout siblings ages 3 to 6. Siblings ages 6 and above can participate
in the Cub Scout program. The programs have been designed age appropriately to promote
the Scout program. For this reason, all siblings ages 3 to 6 will be expected to participate in
the sibling program instead of the Cub Scout program. It promises to be a lot of fun!
The spirit of the Challenge is one of friendly competition. Everybody wins and everybody has a
great time. If someone with no knowledge of Scouting wanted to find out what “Scouting” was
all about they would only have to attend one Challenge and they would understand. Imagine
it: 1000+ people, Scouts and Scouters, parents, and siblings, all having a great time and
treating one and all with respect and conducting themselves according to the Scout Oath and
Law. That’s the way Scouting should be. At the Challenge, it is. Dates are March 28th - March 30th.
